Prussia 1712-CS 2/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 3177 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €525 (about US$731 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 2/3 Taler 1712, CS, Berlin. Mit Zackenrand. Münzmeister Christoph Stricker. Hübsche Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 232, Osnabrück 2013, Nr. 502. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, two-thirds thaler of 1712, Berlin mint, with reeded edge. Handsome patina, minor field defects, very fine or better.)"
This type was struck at Berlin 1707-12. Despite the paltry mintage, it is much more available than the contemporary thalers.
