This specimen is from a type was struck in Lisbon 1891-93 only. King Carlos ruled from 1889 until his assassination at the hands of an anarchist in 1908. His son Manuel II ruled for only two years before he was deposed and the Republic established.

Recorded mintage: 2,365,000 (most common date).
