Sincona sale 51, lot 2877

This specimen was lot 2877 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Maria I. 1786-1799. 400 Reis 1795, Lissabon. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Portugal, Maria I, 1786-99, 400 réis of 1795, Lisbon mint. Extremely fine.)"

This 400 réis or pinto was struck 1787-96 for Maria I. It is available but considerably scarcer than the similar coin of João V (KM 201) struck 1718-48.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.07 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 1.12 g.
