Portugal 1690 4000 reis
The first specimen was lot 653 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "1690 4,000 reis. EF-45 (NGC). Types as above. Medium gold with heavy golden brown toning in the recesses. Very pleasing. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." The second specimen was lot 2287 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"PORTUGAL Pedro II. 1667-1706. Moeda 1690. Rand bearbeitet. Fast vorzüglich. (kingdom of Portugal, Peter II, 1667-1706, gold moidore (4000 réis) of 1690. Edge tooled, good extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1688-1706 and has a fairly low value in the SCWC but is seldom seen. Similar coins were struck in Brazil but bear mintmarks instead of rosettes next to the Maltese cross.

Specification: 10.76 g, 0.917 fine gold, .317 troy oz AGW, the first specimen: 10.71 grams, 29.40 mm diameter; the second specimen 9.44 g.
