Künker sale 264, lot 3798

This specimen was lot 3796 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €9,500 (about US$12,272 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POMMERN, HERZOGTUM NACH DER LANDESVEREINIGUNG VON 1625 Bogislaw XIV. (1620-) 1625-1637. Goldgulden 1628, Stettin. Slg. Hahn (Auktion Künker 224) 1284 (dieses Exemplar). GOLD. Von allergrößter Seltenheit. Einziges bekanntes Exemplar. Winz. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Emil Fischer, Auktion O. Helbing Nachf. 32, München 1910, Nr. 3985; der Slg. Paul Bratring, Auktion Adolph Hess Nachf. 140, Frankfurt/Main 1912, Nr. 262; der Slg. Dr. Stark, Teil 2, Auktion Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. 367, Frankfurt/Main 2000, Nr. 2412 ("Unikum?") und der Slg. Helmut Hahn, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 224, Berlin 2013, Nr. 1284. (Germany, duchy of Pomerania, after the union of 1625, Bogeslav XIV, 1625-37, gold gulden of 1628. The SCWC mentions many gold coins for Pomerania but nearly all lack photos; this one appears to be unlisted therein tho it is mentioned in Friedberg.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare, perhaps unique.
