Künker sale 264, lot 3795

This specimen was lot 3795 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$10,335 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POMMERN-STETTIN, HERZOGTUM Philipp II. 1606-1618. Goldgulden 1617, Stettin, auf die Regierungskunst. Geharnischtes Brustbild r. mit Mühlsteinkragen und umgelegter Feldbinde//Schnecke kriecht nach l. über eine Brücke in felsiger Landschaft. Slg. Hahn (Auktion Künker 224) 1084 (dieses Exemplar). GOLD. Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives, sehr schönes Exemplar Exemplar der Slg. Bismarck, Auktion Kölner Münzkabinett 62, Köln 1995, Nr. 802 und der Slg. Helmut Hahn, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 224, Berlin 2013, Nr. 1084. (Germany, duchy of Pomerania-Stettin, Philip II, 1606-18, gold gulden of 1617, Stettin mint, on the art of government. The SCWC mentions many gold coins for Pomerania but nearly all lack photos; this one is mentioned for 1617-18. Five different goldgulden are noted for 1617 (Fr-2089, -2091, -2092, -2093, -2094), all rare.
