Steve Album sale 38, lot 3561
Poland SA38-3561r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3561 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $89.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND: Republic, AR 20 złotych, 1997, annual animal series-stag beetle, Choice Proof." Poland obtained her freedom in the early 1990's with the fall of the Berlin Wall but the new government found the treasury as empty as before. NCLT's ("Non Circulating Legal Tender" coinage) were issued in a bewildering array to help stem the flow. This one, one of two silver twenty złotych issued in 1997, honors the stag beetle.

Recorded mintage: 15,000 proofs.

Specification: 28.52 g, 0.925 fine silver, 38.6 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-Y330.
