Poland 1779-EB groschen
This specimen was lot 1456 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$815 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"POLEN, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-1795. Groschen 1779, Warschau. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. Hübsche Patina. (kingdom of Poland, Stanislas August Poniatowski, 1764-1795, groschen of 1779, Warsaw mint. Very rare in this condition, About uncirculated, Attractively toned.)"
This type was struck 1765-95 and has a low catalog value in circulated condition. This date was minted after the first partition. One thaler = 8 złotych = 32 groszy.
