Peru 1969 10 soles KM-253

This type, issued 1969 only, reflects the accelerating pace of inflation which devastated Peru in the late 1970's and 1980's. The ten soles denomination was first issued as a copper-nickel coin in 1969 (KM 253, shown here) and steadily shrank until its termination in 1984. A gold ten soles (KM 236) also exists for 1969. The obverse, depicting stylized fish, bears Paris mint privy marks tho probably wasn't struck there.

Recorded mintage: 15,000,000.
