Ponterio sale 150, lot 8697

This coin was lot 8697 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $1495. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 100 Soles, 1969. PCGS MS-65." The type was struck in Lima 1950-70 in limited numbers as a bullion coin. This date is scarce; some dates are rare (<200 pieces). Gold five, ten, twenty and fifty soles were struck during the same period.

Recorded mintage: 540.

Specification: 46.80 g, 0.900 fine gold, 1.354 troy oz AGW.
