This specimen is one of a series struck 1840-56 at the Lima mint. The first specimen shown, which is graded by PCGS at MS63, is a 1855/4 overdate. The date and overdate are listed in the SCWC as common, tho all Peruvian minors are scarcer in nice condition than the catalog values would indicate. Assayer MB is recorded for 1838-58. It was legal tender in the United States until 1857 for 50¢.
