This specimen was lot 25288 in Heritage sale 61487 (Dallas, TX, May 2025), where it sold for $1,170. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peru. Republic gold Escudo 1855 LM-MB AU55 NGC, Lima mint. An elusive minor and among the more difficult Republic pre-decimal denominations to locate across the gold series, and one of just two certified by NGC, the other we handled in 2014. Accompanied by the original collector envelope. From the Monedero Collection of Peru and Latin American Coins." Altho the Lima mint had struck escudos for the republic of Peru in 1823-33, this subtype of 1850 and 1855 has the country name abbreviated "REPUB· PERUANA". It is not listed as rare but it is seldom seen. Earlier issues had the reverse legend spelled out "REPUBLICA PERUANA".
