This specimen was lot 21092 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description [1] noted, "PERU. 8 Escudos, 1833-CUZCO Bo Ar. Cuzco Mint. NGC MS-60. Sharply detailed with alluring, reflective flash in the fields and surfaces that are free from mention-worthy marks or the frequently seen planchet imperfections that plague this type. It also has a deeper than usual strike for this lightly-struck type. Exceeded by just two examples (both MS61s) in the NGC population report with no examples certified by PCGS. From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection." This type was struck at Cuzco 1826-45 and at Lima 1826-40 and 1850-55.
