This type was struck at Lima 1825-28 and at Cuzco 1826-29 and is rather common; the complete span of Peru standing liberty eight reales runs 1825-55. Assayer JM is recorded for the Lima mint 1825-31.
The first example was lot 25205 and sold on Jan 3, 2011 for $862.50 at the 2011 January New York Signature World & Ancient Coins Auction #3012 by Heritage Auctions. The catalog descrption reads: "Republic 8 Reales 1826-JM Lima, MS63 NGC, well-struck on both sides and nicely toned, minor flan flaws on the reverse. Scarce first type with petite figure of Libertad."
