This is an example of a type struck 1791-1808 at Lima, Peru. It is a middle date of its type and was replaced in 1808 by an imaginary bust of Ferdinand VII. As a class, colonial coinage of Peru is much less plentiful than that of Mexico, tho it is more available than the remaining mints. However, Harris[1] noted finding twice as many Peruvian two reales of Charles IV as that of Mexico, so it is safe to say that this type is common.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: 6.76 g, 0.896 fine silver, .194 troy oz ASW.
