Peru 1800-L IJ real
This specimen was lot 75782 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Real, 1800-LIMAE IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV. PCGS EF-40. From the Richard August Collection." Per Harris[2], of the six mints that struck one reales for Charles IV, Lima is tied with Guatemala as scarce, showing only 3/7 as many as Potosi or Mexico. Assayer "IJ" is noted for the years 1788-1803. Assayer JP also stamped one reales in 1800, according to Cayón, but nothing is listed for that assayer in the SCWC prior to 1803.
