This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, in 1759. This specimen was lot 25612 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1759 LM-JM, Lima mint, XF40 NGC. A decent specimen of this very bust type, with limited wear, attractive old toning and a desirable pedigree. Ex: Eliasberg (ANR 4/2005, lot 3474)." This type was struck in the name of Ferdinand VI 1757-60 and is rare.
