This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, in 1758. This specimen was lot 1254 in Aureo sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 2,000 euros (about US$3,300 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted, "1758. Lima. JM. 8 escudos. Leves golpecitos. Pátina. Rara. MBC/MBC+ (Eight escudos of 1758, Lima mint; light nicks, toned, rare, Very Fine/Very Fine+)." This type was struck in the name of Ferdinand VI 1757-60 and is rare.
