This specimen was lot 1264 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, gold bust 1 escudo, Ferdinand VI, 1758 JM, second bust, very rare, NGC XF details / rev scratched, ex-Almenara. Full rims with much original luster in legends (arguably AU) but the bust slightly weaker and with small marks all over (a few on reverse heavier, as noted on label). Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection." This type was struck 1754-59 and is considerably scarcer than the Colombian escudos of the same period. No Mexican one escudos exist for 1758.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date for the type.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine gold.
