This specimen was lot 21429 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $8,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 8 Escudos, 1728-L N. Lima Mint. Philip V. NGC AU-55. An above average example, very evenly struck for the type and beautifully toned over vibrant luster." This type is recorded for 1710-47. The Mexico City mint was converted to milled coinage in 1732-34 but Lima would not follow suit until 1751.
