Sedwick sale 25, lot 24

This specimen was lot 24 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, cob 4 escudos, 1707H, rare, NGC MS 61, finest known in NGC census, ex-1715 Fleet (designated on label). Crisply detailed full pillars-and-waves and cross-lions-castles (the former slightly doubled and the latter slightly off-center), full crown, lustrous and very lightly toned. NGC #4822290-001. From the 1715 Fleet." The type was struck in Lima, Peru, 1702-45; many dates are not listed. Gold coins from colonial Peru are much scarcer than those from Colombian mints. Assayer H is recorded for 1696-1709.
