Parma 1788 10 soldi
This specimen was lot 75350 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Sardinia. 10 Soldi, 1788. Ferdinando I di Borbone. PCGS MS-63. KM-46. An engaging issue depicting the figure of St. Antoninus on horseback. Exactingly struck and aglow with satiny luster." This coin is from the duchy of Parma, not the kingdom of Sardinia. Note the legend, "D·G·PLAC[ENTIAE]·PAR[MAE] V·DVX". It was struck 1783-95 and has a low catalog value, altho no coin from this small state is common. The duke also issued a ten soldi for Piacenza but it has a different design.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.1 g, 0.148 fine silver, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM C6.
