Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3219

This specimen was lot 3219 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Pius IX, 1846-1878, AE 2 soldi, 1867-R year XXI, a wonderful lustrous chocolate-brown mint state example! PCGS graded MS64 BN. The sole finest graded example at PCGS (Top Pop)." This type was struck 1866-67 and is common. Two soldi was equal to ten centesimi.

Recorded mintage: 3,500,000.

Specification: 10 g, copper, 32 mm diameter, plain edge.
