Papal States 1794 4 baiocchi

from the Tom Fitzgerald Collection

This type was issued 1777 and 1793-94 for Pius VI (1775-99) from the Rome mint and accompanies the similar eight (KM 1235) and twelve baiocchi (KM 1252) of the same year. It is the last issue of this denomination and does not fit the quasidecimal system adopted in 1740 (ten baiocchi = one giulio, ten giulio = one scudo).
