This type was issued 1793 only for Pius VI (1774-99) from the Rome mint. It is accompanied by similar four (KM 1211) and eight baiocchi (KM 1235). It is the only issue of this denomination and does not fit the quasidecimal system adopted in 1740 (ten baiocchi = one giulio, ten giulio = one scudo). It is rather scarce.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.22 g, 0.917 fine silver (billon per Berman[1]).
Catalog reference: KM 1252, Ber-2979.
