Papal States 1780 carlino

from the Tom Fitzgerald Collection

The carlino was one fourth of a testone or seven and a half baiocchi. It did not fit in the decimal reform of 1740 but was likely struck anyway out of tradition. This type, issued for Pius VI (1775-99), is known for 1777-96.
