This specimen was lot 2838 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 15,000 CHF (about US$17,978 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY | Vatican - Church State, Alexander VIII. 1689-1691. Doppia 1690, Roma. Of the highest rarity, Extremely fine, Edge slightly tooled." The scudo d'oro of Rome was 3.36 g, 0.917 fine gold, making the doppia 6.72 g. This is one of two doppia issued by this pope; the other, KM 502, is slightly more common.
