Papal States (1705) testone KM-676
This specimen was lot 1515 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$10,497 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PAPST CLEMENS XI., 1700-1721. Die Münzstätte Rom. Testone A V (1704/1705), Rom. Mit dem Wappen des Presidente della zecca, Monsieur Giuseppe D’Aste, auf der Rückseite. Von großer Seltenheit. Feine Patina, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Nomisma S.p.a./Asta Numismatica 36, San Marino 2008, Nr. 1722. (Papal States, Clement XI, 1700-21, testone of the year 5, Rome mint; reverse: arms of the mintmaster. Extremely rare, fine patina, extremely fine.)"
The testone was three giulii and 3½ testoni made a piastra. A mezza piastra of 1705 also featured the town of Urbino, once an independent duchy.
