This specimen was lot 633 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$2,880 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN, Vatikan - Kirchenstaat, Sixtus V. 1585-1590. Doppia o. J. Bologna. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. (Papal States, Sixtus V, 1585-90, undated doppia, Bologna mint. Very rare, About very fine.)"
Berman mentions two closely related issues: Ber-1356 has Caetani arms, Ber-1357 has Peretti arms. Both are very rare. Based on the Bologna scudo d'oro of 3.29 g, .904 fine, the doppia would be 6.58 g.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.58 g, 0.904 fine gold, this specimen 6.43 g.
