This specimen was lot 34344 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy: Papal States. Sixtus V Testone ND (1585-1590) XF40 NGC, Bologna mint. A better representative of this conditionally scarce and desirable emission with pronounced doubling on the reverse. Sold with old In Asta tag." Berman records twenty different testone from Rome for this reign, plus this one from the Bologna mint. The doubling on the reverse seems to have garbled the legend.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 10.00 g.
Catalog reference: Ber-1360, Munt-96.
