Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 572

This specimen was lot 572 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €160 (about US$203 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Grégoire XIII (1572-1585), (Ugo Boncompagni), AR giulio, Rome. D/ Ecu orné, sous la tiare et les clés. R/ Saint Pierre deb. à d., ten. une Bible ouverte et une clé. Belle patine. Très Beau à Superbe. (Italy, Pontifical State, Gregory XIII (1572-85), silver giulio, Rome mint. Obverse: arms below crossed keys and tiara; reverse: St. Peter standing to right, bearing a key and an open bible. Nice patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Berman notes thirteen different giulii for this ruler with this one mentioned as fairly common.
