This specimen was lot 71758 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Overijssel. Gulden, 1764. NGC MS-63. This bright and flashy example offers bold devices with light attractive tone adding to its pleasing appearance." Each province of the Netherlands minted its own coins, sometimes only sporadically. Others minted some denominations and not others. While Overijssel minted almost no gold in the eighteenth century, it did strike an extensive series of silver one gulden in several subtypes. The first, KM 63.1, has a rose mintmark and was struck 1698-1710. A crane mintmark was used 1715-23, 1733-38, 1748-49; a lily mintmark (shown here) was used 1722-25, 1733-38, 1748-49, 1761-69.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 10.61 g, 0.920 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-63.3.
