Nurnberg 1773-N 1/2 ducat Fr-1912
This specimen was lot 2324 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$452 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1/2 Dukat 1773. Ohne Münzmeisterzeichen. Sehr schön. Leichte Fassungsspuren. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, half ducat of 1773, without mintmark. Very fine, Some traces of mounting.)"
The city of Nurnberg issued a series of ducats (see Fr-1885) honoring the Paschal Lamb around 1700; these are common and popular today. The ducats issued for the remainder of the eighteenth century are few and expensive. This is the only half ducat noted for the eighteenth century.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
