Sincona sale 23, lot 2182

This specimen was lot 2182 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,266 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nürnberg, Stadt, Doppeldukat 1650. Auf den Westfälischen Frieden. Gutes vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, double ducat of 1650, on the peace of Westphalia. Good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1650 only and is rare. It is accompanied by a single ducat (KM-168) and a triple klippe ducat (KM-170).

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.98 g.
