Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71832

This specimen was lot 71832 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Ore, 1889. Kongsberg Mint. Oscar II. NGC MS-63 Brown. This attractive and well-preserved example displays lovely rich chocolate brown patina and bold devices." Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1876-78, 1884-85, 1889-99 and 1902.

Recorded mintage: 3,000,000.

Specification: 2 g, bronze, 16 mm diameter.
