This specimen was part of lot 23262 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $503.70. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mixed Scandinavian 14 Coin Lot, Norway... 10 Ore 1874, 1889, ...Grades are Fine-XF. A lot that needs careful study." In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1875-83, 1888-94, 1897-1903 and was accompanied by a billon twenty-five øre of similar design. Many dates are very scarce. This one is a slightly better date.

Specification: 1.50 g, 0.400 fine silver, 15 mm diameter.
