Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71833

This specimen was lot 71833 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Ore, 1893. Kongsberg Mint. Oscar II. NGC MS-63 Brown. This choice uncirculated example displays lovely rich chocolate brown patina and boldly struck devices." Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1876-78, 1884-85, 1889-99 and 1902.

Recorded mintage: 3,000,000.
