This specimen was lot 11075 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €2,160 (about US$2,251). The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 2 Skilling, 1668. Christiania mint. Frederik III. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. Scarce type with the obverse lion on a shield, a feature only seen on 1667 and 1668. Despite the designation and the two small, dark spots on the shield, this is surely one of the best examples to be found. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1667-68 and is very rare. It was the first new design of two skilling since KM 30 was introduced in 1649. A related type (KM 85, with a circle around the lion), was also struck 1668-70 and is much more common. One specie daler was six mark or 96 skilling.

Recorded mintage: 491,000 (KM 82 and KM 85).

Specification: 1.30 g, 0.281 fine silver, 18.5 mm diameter, this specimen 1.32 g.

Catalog reference: KM-82; H-72; Sieg-3; NMD-229; Schou-119; Bruun-10043.
