Norway 1657 2 mark
This specimen was lot 11038 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €1,320 (about US$1,376). The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 2 Mark, 1657. Christiania mint. Frederik III. NGC AU-55. Interesting, un-published (?) variation, where the mintmark has been changed from a flower to the correct, which is a coin die. Pa[i]red with the excellent condition of the coin it makes for a very rare offering. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1649-62 and is scarce. One specie daler was six mark or 96 skilling.
