This specimen was lot 32405 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "Canada. Newfoundland. Victoria 50 Cents 1894 XF45 PCGS. A lower mintage date with 40,000 pieces struck toned over to a pleasing gunmetal hue." Struck in small numbers and exposed to long circulation, it is very rare in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: 40,000, a better date.
