Steve Album sale 51, lot 1396

This specimen was lot 1396 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: Dutch Republic, AR 1/2 duit, Gelderland, 1756, United East India Company (VOC) issue, a superb lustrous specimen example! PCGS graded Specimen 65." This type was struck in gold 1750, 1755-63, in silver 1755-63 and in copper 1749-54 and 1769-70. Utrecht was the only province to strike half duits (KM 112.1) for circulation in 1756. The collapse of the United Provinces during the French Revolution ended the issue.
