Jean Elsen sale 149, lot 1977

This specimen was lot 1977 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$352 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Beatrix (1980-2014), AV 10 euro, 2006. Rembrandt. In doosje. Gepolijste Stempel. (kingdom of the Netherlands, Beatrix, 1980-2014, gold ten euro of 2006, 400th anniversary of the birth of Rembrandt. In capsule, Proof.)"

This denomination is used exclusively for commemoratives and is not legal tender outside the Netherlands. Millions of tourists come to the Netherlands every year, not to see the tulips, but the Rembrandts.

Recorded mintage: 3,500 proofs.

Specification: 6.72 g, 0.900 fine gold, 22.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
