The Netherlands was the last country to struck ducats on a regular basis. This type, a refreshed version of a type struck basically unchanged 1815-1937, is common tho the 1960 is slightly scarcer. Other dates include 1972-78. The second specimen was lot 3232 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Ducat, 1960. NGC PROOF-65. VERY RARE proof striking. Fully brilliant surfaces with only a few light wisps as evidence of handling. The second finest certified example with a full proof designation. Ex: Lawrence Adams Collection." The third specimen was lot 33542 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "Beatrix gold Proof Ducat 1960 PR64 NGC, Utrecht mint. Deep mirroresque surfaces filled with plentiful die polish lines attest to the superb quality of the present offering."

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge.
