Netherlands 1945-P gulden
This specimen was lot 1577 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Gulden, 1945-P. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Though KN shows as having a combined mintage for both the 1944-P and 1945-P of 25,375,000 pieces. They also state that only a small number were placed into circulation. Lightly toned." The gulden was 10 g, 0.945 fine, until 1917. The later Wilhelmina type (KM 161.1) of 1922-40 was 0.720 fine. This subtype of 1944-45 was struck at the Philadelphia mint, the Utrecht mint being under Nazi occupation. When the homeland type was resumed in 1954, it was 6.5 g, 0.720 fine silver (KM 184).
