Netherlands 1906 1/2 gulden
This specimen was lot 2051 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €300 (about US$418 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Wilhelmina (1890-1948), AR 1/2 gulden, 1906. Mooie patina. bijna Prachtig. (kingdom of the Netherlands, Wilhelmina, 1890-1948, silver half gulden of 1906. Nice patina, about Extremely Fine.)"
This type, struck 1898-1909, features the "coronation head" of queen Wilhelmina. On her coronation in 1898, the regency ended and she assumed full powers of the throne. This bust was used on all the silver and gold denominations from the ten cents to the ten gulden. This is a scarce date despite the large mintage.
Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.
Specification: 5 g, 0.945 fine silver, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM-121.2; Sch-833.
