This specimen was lot 75041 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Gulden, 1828. William I. NGC MS-62. A sharply struck and softly lustrous Gulden, with traces of deep gray to earthen toning along the peripheries." This type was struck in Utrecht and Brussels intermittently 1817-37. It superseded the old gulden of the United Provinces with the Dutch maid leaning on a pillar. In 1840, the weight was reduced to 10 g to match the French two francs.
