This type was struck 1982-90 and all dates are common. It was the last of its denomination, its value destroyed by inflation. In 1982, US$1 = 13.2 rupees; as of September 2019, US$1 = 116 rupees. King Birendra Bir Bikram (ruled 1971-2001) was murdered by his son in a domestic dispute. The king's brother, Gyanendra, ruled until the monarchy was abolished in 2008. In 2015, an earthquake wrecked the capital, Katmandu.
