This type was struck 1982-93 and all dates are common. It was superseded by a similar coin of reduced weight (KM 1015.2). King Birendra Bir Bikram (ruled 1971-2001) was murdered by his son in a domestic dispute. The king's brother, Gyanendra, ruled until the monarchy was abolished in 2008. In 2015, an earthquake wrecked the capital, Katmandu.
