Steve Album sale 51, lot 918

This specimen was lot 918 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NASSAU: Adolph, 1839-1866, AR gulden, Wiesbaden, 1856, a wonderful lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS64." This type was struck 1855-56. The duchy was annexed to Prussia in 1866 and her coinage ceased. Adolphe later became grand duke of Luxembourg (r. 1890-1905).

Recorded mintage: 40,301.

Specifications: 10.60 g, 0.900 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, plain edge.
