Stephen Album sale 43, lot 2253

This specimen was lot 2253 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "NASSAU: Duke Wilhelm, 1816-1839, AR 6 kreuzer, 1835, key date, a blazing mint state example, NGC graded MS67." This state, formed in 1816 by the union of Nassau-Usingen and Nassau-Weilburg, struck six kreuzer 1817-55. This type is noted for 1831-37. In 1866, the duchy was swallowed up by Prussia and the coinage ended, tho one branch of the family now occupies the throne of the Netherlands.

Recorded mintage: 831,800.
